China Youth Daily Client, Beijing, September 11 (China Youth Daily · Reporter of Youth.cn Liu Shixin) As one of the most important platforms for global exchanges and cooperation in science and technology innovation, the ZGC Forum will offer young people more opportunities to stand out this year.
Today, Zhai Lixin, Director of the Zhongguancun Management Committee, said that the 2020 ZGC Forum themed “Meet Challenge with Cooperation and Innovation” will be held in Beijing from September 17 to 20. The four major modules of “Conference + Exhibition + Trade + Release” will provide an opportunity for deep discussions on major topics such as strengthening international cooperation in epidemic prevention and control and in scientific and technological exchanges, along with technological trading activities and display of scientific and technological achievements.
This is also another international event held in Beijing after the 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services.
Youth elements are highlights in all of the four modules unveiled by Zhai Lixin.
The conference section consists of an opening assembly and 26 parallel forums. At the opening assembly, top scientists such as Nobel Prize winners and Fields Medal winners and representatives of well-known multinational companies, industry leading companies, and start-up companies will share their insights on “People’s Livelihood and Well-being under the Global Pandemic Context”; at parallel forums, discussions and exchanges will be held around youth startup, innovation ecology, and life and health.
According to Zhao Changshan, Chairman of Zhongguancun Development Group, forums with youth elements include the Youth Forum on Global Science and Technology and the Think Tank Forum on Global Science and Technology Innovation to be held on September 19. In addition, the China-Russia Youth Entrepreneurship Summit will be held at Tsinghua University on the afternoon of September 18.
The “New Technology Trading Section” is a major innovation of this ZGC Forum. For this section, the Forum will initiate an international alliance for technology trading, launch a batch of first products, carry out a series of activities under the theme of key country-specific technology trading, and publish a list of top 100 leading industrial innovation technologies focusing on such fields as AI and smart manufacturing.
The most prominent youth element in this section will be dialogues on innovation cooperation among top ten Chinese and foreign universities of science and technology. Domestic and foreign universities of science and technology such as University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, Tsinghua University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Fudan University, and Xi’an Jiaotong University will organize road shows and cooperation on key projects.
During the Forum, a special event for the release of major achievements will be held, and relevant achievements will also be released on parallel forums, according to Zhai Lixin. At the press conference of major achievements, semiconductors, innovative drugs, blockchain, quantum technology and other latest achievements will be released. It is understood that a number of achievements that young people are concerned with, such as the Report of Urban Talent Stickiness Index, will be released at the relevant parallel forums.
This year marks the first integration of the ZGC Forum and the China Beijing International High-tech Expo (hereinafter referred to as “CHITEC”), an event that has been held for 23 sessions. According to Zhang Youlin, Deputy Director and CCPIT Beijing, CHITEC includes 12 exhibition areas around such themes as anti-epidemic science and technology exhibition and Winter Olympics scientific and technological exhibition, as well as the exhibition of achievements in technology and entrepreneurship of youth in the capital.
CHITEC will focus on displaying cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements such as 5G communications, industrial interconnection, intelligent connected vehicles, bio-medicine, AI, and network security. According to Zhang Youlin, a number of anti-epidemic scientific and technological products from universities and colleges such as Beijing University of Technology will also be unveiled at the CHITEC.
Zhai Lixin also revealed that anti-epidemic element will be a highlight at the Forum that is not only evident in the special thematic activities at both the Forum and the CHITEC, but also present in the trade section in which a number of new anti-epidemic technology and new products will be launched for the first time and in the release section where major achievements like the research on the cross-species transmission mechanism of coronavirus and influenza viruses and the R&D of new coronavirus vaccines and antibodies will be released.
This Forum will also be full of eminent guests. Zhai Lixin said that more than 200 world renowned experts and scholars have confirmed their participation.Including 11 Nobel Prize winning scientists like Gregory Winter, Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry, Fields Medal winner Efim Zelmanov, Randy W. Schekman, Nobel Prize winner in Physiology or Medicine. The guests also include Chinese and foreign academicians like Academician Zhong Nanshan, winner of “the Medal of the Republic”, Academician Chen Wei, winner of the national honorary title of “Hero of the People”. Over 400 well-known entrepreneurs and investors will show up as well.
