Jean-Eric Paquet, French, joined the European Commission in 1996 and has served in various departments. In 2018, he was appointed as the Director of EU Directorate-General for Research and Innovation. He is familiar with scientific research and innovation, with excellent management ability, and maintains extensive communication channels with the top management of the European Commission. Previously, he served as Deputy Secretary-General of the European Commission, responsible for policy coordination, data protection and mediation services. Paquet received his master's degree in European management from the College of Europe (Brugge) in 1989 and a bachelor degree in international and public policy from the Institute of Political Studies of Université Robert Schuman (Strasbourg) in 1988.
