Condensed matter physicist, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Director, Professor and Ph.D. supervisor at the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences

He has long been dedicated to the computational and theoretical research of novel quantum phenomena in condensed matter. By developing unique electronic structure calculation methods, he has achieved systematic and innovative results in the field of spin-orbit physics, particularly in the theory and computation of topological electronic states. Several important quantum effects and material systems predicted via computational means by his team have been experimentally confirmed, significantly advancing the development of related disciplines and international frontier research.

To date, he has published over 200 SCI-indexed papers with total citations exceeding 50,000. He has been consecutively named to Clarivate's list of "Highly Cited Researchers (Global)" for over ten years since 2014. His numerous accolades include the ICTP Prize from the International Centre for Theoretical Physics, the Achievement in Asia Award from the Global Chinese Physical Society, the First Prize of the National Natural Science Award (twice), the CAS Collective Outstanding Science and Technology Achievement Prize, the Tan Kah Kee Science Award, the National Distinguished Scientific and Technological Talent Award, the National Advanced Worker, and the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress.
